We now know that an inclusive economy boosts productivity, growth and social well-being. Access to employment for all is essential to developing resilient communities and a productive society. This is even more important and necessary in times of crisis, whether health-related, geopolitical or otherwise.
At a time when more and more sectors are suffering from a shortage of manpower in Switzerland, people with refugee and migrant experience represent talents and potential that are too often untapped. And yet, our country’s history and decades of research show that the inclusion of diversity fosters creativity, innovation and performance in the world of work. People with refugee and migrant experiences are therefore part of the solution to the challenges of a world on the move.

The first charter for INCLUSION for migrants and refugees
The first charter for the inclusion of refugees and migrants in companies was launched in France in 2020 by SINGA and Utopies. Over 60 companies, international corporations, and SMEs have committed to:
- Breaking down prejudices and developing a positive culture of interculturalism
- Supporting migrants on their path to greater employability
- Ensuring the successful integration of newly hired or existing employees
Context in Switzerland
- There is a labor shortage in many sectors in Switzerland.
- Refugees and migrants are an untapped source of talent.
- The Swiss government wants to increase the employment rate among refugees.
The charter is the most important tool for achieving this!
Our vision for the integration of refugees and migrants
- This charter offers concrete and actionable solutions.
- It helps to create a truly more inclusive work culture that leverages the benefits of diversity and addresses labor shortages in Switzerland.

GOALS
- Help companies when thinking about a comprehensive inclusion and integration strategy
- Facilitate the implementation of concrete measures for diversity and inclusion
- Create a place where people can exchange best practices
- Connect the private sector with people from associations who have developed solutions for inclusion
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Depending on possibilities, carry out 2 to 3 actions per year towards inclusion:
Examples of actions:
- Inform and train managers and employees about the advantages of intercultural management
- Organize workshops on diversity and unconscious bias
- Hire people with a migration background for internships, training, or jobs (more flexible hiring criteria)
What are the steps?
1. Introductory meeting:
Easily schedule an appointment with any of the implementation partners to discuss your needs, ask questions, and explore potential actions that could make an impact within your teams. Implementation partners are the launching organisations, as well as friends of the Charter. Nehmen Sie Kontakt mit uns auf: charta@singaswitzerland.ch
2. Sign the Charter // Become a signatory
The implementation partner you choose works with you to define the details of your commitment and the actions to be taken, and you sign the Charter. By signing the Charter, your logo is displayed as a signatory so long as you keep your commitment with the implementation partners.
3. Implement the actions
Within one year from the signing of the Charter you carry out the various actions you have committed to in collaboration with one or more implementation partners.
4. Evaluate your impact
You complete a short evaluation at the end of the year to share the results of the actions taken. A meeting is also organized to agree on a possible renewal of the actions. We, the organisers of the Charter, put together a report with all the actions completed by all partners to showcase your impact.
